Chineham Hand Car Wash

Update in March 2026: They're still excellent and take care of the details. Previously: A swarm of diligent peeps surround your car and make it shiny again. For a few extra quid, they'll vacuum it as well. A bit of a long queue at busy times, but they're incredibly efficient, so it moves much faster than you might think. Tip#1: Google Maps will show you how busy it's likely to be at any time; scroll down to see the graph. Tip#2: If they wet-vacuum your floor mats, they'll still be wet when you drive away, obvs. Take 'em out of the car to dry later, or they might stink🤮.

They seem to have staffing issues here. When there are 6 or 8 guys cleaning cars they do a superb job. Too often these days they are down to 3 or 4 guys. When this happens they cut corners badly. Today I paid for their gold service and the interior was barely touched. The centre console had not been dusted or vacuumed at all. I asked them to redo it and they did but one guy suggested I could have done it myself!!! Also the tyres and black trim had not been shined. Again they did it when I asked. My advice...If you pull in and see only 3 or 4 guys on duty, drive away and try again when they have a full compliment. Also, even when the full crew are there, you have to watch them closely. Many times I have paid for the gold service which includes tyre shine and black trim shine. They tell you the car is ready but they haven't done either. When you prompt them, it is done but you shouldn't have to watch over them and remind them. All of that said, their prices are good and when they are on form the service is great. .

I have been a loyal, frequent customer for several years, but after today's experience, I will not be returning. I brought my car in for a standard wash, but the soap dried on the vehicle in the heat. Instead of fixing it, management told staff to abandon my car to focus on others. I was completely ignored and left with a car covered in dried soap. Out of pure frustration, I had to ask for a bucket and use my own microfiber cloths to clean my own car just to make it drivable, while staff stood by and watched. To make matters worse, the owner demanded full payment. When I politely questioned this, he became aggressive, shouted at me, and told me never to come back. The complete lack of accountability, terrible management, and aggressive hostility from the owner was entirely unacceptable. Avoid this place.

Would leave 0 stars if I could left a scratch on my bmw’s Indiviual paint and was told to open my eyes it was my fault and it was already there

Have been using Chineham hand car wash ever since I moved to the area just over 4 years ago, always do a fantastic job, the staff are always very friendly, Tony the owner always has time to say hello and a chat, cheapest and best car wash in the area.

Used to be good, went there today person that dried the car off left so many smear marks on my windows and paintwork i had to go home and clean it again

Just paid for a Gold valet and the service was awful. We were there for over 1 hour 30 minutes because they kept accepting new cars instead of finishing the ones they had already started. When I asked the staff what was taking so long, they were rude and unhelpful. To make matters worse, they didn’t even clean the rear of the car properly the first time. When I pointed it out, they just gave it a very quick wipe down. Really disappointing service and definitely not worth the money.

Just got car wash from this garage, I m totally surprised even after taking gold package, the car exterior and interior are not properly and they were just jet washing and cleaning was very superficial. There are spots and dirt/dust not cleaned up. I have pointed few after cleanup and they were so impatient to listen and feeling like they reluctantly trying to clean without applying liquid and made one small scratch as well. I would suggest look for other options.

I have used many car washes in Basingstoke area, this one is definitely the best one. Staff is nice and polite. When they miss something, I just point it out ant it is sorted with a smile. Love their waiting area as well.

First time using Chineham car wash and it will be definitely my last 😡 No attention to detail, I had to point out things that they had missed. The lady doing the inside of the car wasn’t bothered about the missed cleaning 🤬 £30 for a gold service which I didn’t receive!!!!!! I have had to give it one star as it won’t let me post review

Just got the car done and it’s still dirty ! Absolute crap car wash will not use again ! Didn’t even want it dried as he was dragging the water around and it was drying on with his scratch rag. *Thanks for the offer on the free wash but no I will not waste my time here again. Do not recommend taking your car here.

This car wash is amazing, like 10 stars! I've gone a few times, and they always do a great job, even when it's super busy. I totally recommend them, plus they're way cheaper than most other car washes around here.

My last two visits have been poor. Today was frankly astonishing. Yes, I’m only doing the £10 bronze level wash…..but all 4 wheels were filthy. The whole drivers side door and lower half was dirty enough to still be able to write your name in the dirt. I will never use them again, my car isn’t big (it’s a Boxster) and the level of effort today was zero. I was a regular as they used to be good. Today is the last time I give them any money. Don’t bother, find somewhere else. Edited to say I’ve just been back today (I didn’t take the free wash they offered when I originally reviewed them a few weeks ago as £10 is a good price and I want to support them as a business). I went for a basic bronze wash again. Today they were absolutely excellent. My car is spotless, they had some new people working and the other staff were guiding them and making sure no spots were missed. I’m really happy and will be back again. Great job. Thank you!

Without doubt the WORST car wash I’ve ever been to. It was Saturday lunchtime so I expected it to be busy. I didn’t however expect it to take over an hour just to wash the exterior. I’d have been waiting at least another hour to get the interior done so I changed my mind and left. No urgency, the employees seem completely uninterested. The exterior wash was awful. Lots of areas missed, door jams not cleaned. Tyres not even dressed until I asked. Will definitely not be returning!

All good, staff were friendly and they made a great job of cleaning the car. 1st class every time.
