The most useful thing to know about a Morrisons car wash is that Morrisons may not run it.

Short answer

There is no national price list. Morrisons car wash prices are set at each site because the forecourt wash, DIY jet wash and car-park hand wash can have different operators, tariffs and hours.

Why there is no single Morrisons price

Morrisons sold 337 petrol forecourts, including their ancillary services, to Motor Fuel Group (MFG) in a £2.5bn transaction completed on 30 April 2024. Morrisons retained an equity stake of about 20%, but MFG now operates those forecourts. That is why a Morrisons store page can describe the wash as an “MFG Car Wash Centre”.

A hand wash on the supermarket car park can be a different business again. Car Park Valeting (CPV), one operator found at Morrisons sites, says its locations are run by franchisees and that the landlord receives rent. In short, the supermarket name over the car park tells you where you are, not necessarily who is selling the wash.

From the WashFinder database51

Morrisons-branded UK car-wash listings in our directory. This is a directory count, not an official register.

Our 2026 directory data divides those 51 listings into 42 listed as “Car wash” and nine as “Self service car wash”. The label still does not tell you the programme, tariff or operator. Use WashFinder near you to find the listing, then check the sign and price board at that particular site.

There is one particularly easy trap. “Wash-ME” means a self-service launderette, not somewhere to clean your Ford. The brand says it has more than 1,000 UK launderettes, and the Morrisons Worthing page lists Wash-ME without listing a car wash.

What might you pay?

No reliable current national tariff is published by Morrisons, MFG or the Morrisons-specific page of the hand-wash operator checked. The Borehamwood store page names a car wash and one-bay jet wash but gives no tariff. An MFG Car Wash Centre page gives services and hours, again without prices. CPV’s Watford page asks customers to call for prices.

That makes a neat national price table impossible. A handful of public examples exist, but they are snapshots rather than a tariff: one 2022 video described an automatic wash at £5.99; a 2011 forum user reported £6 for a “top wash”; and one 2026 Reddit user reported an MFG jet wash at £1 per minute. One CPV customer quotation on the operator’s Watford site mentioned £27 for a Platinum package. Treat each as a dated, single-site account, not “the Morrisons price”. The difference between the two rating averages matters. The 3.31 figure gives every rated site equal weight; the 3.86 figure gives busier-reviewed listings more influence. Neither tells you today’s price or whether the machine is working.

Work out which wash is actually there

“Car Wash Centre” sounds like an automatic machine. It may instead mean a DIY bay. Eight MFG pages checked under that name listed Jet Wash, Air, Vacuum and Water, with no automatic wash in the service list.

If the listing says Jet Wash

Expect a DIY bay charged by time. Check the tariff and payment symbols on the machine before starting.

If it says Car Wash

It may be an automatic rollover. Look for the programme board and the operator’s vehicle restrictions.

If attendants are working in the car park

Treat it as a separate hand-wash business. Agree the package, vehicle size and price with that operator.

At an automatic wash described in a 2025 Redcar report, the driver paid, received a code, entered it at the machine, then saw the pre-spray and brushes begin. That is useful evidence for that machine, not a promise that every site uses the same sequence. If this is your first rollover wash, our automatic car wash guide explains the basic format.

  1. Before setting offFind the exact facility. Check whether the store page lists Car Wash, Jet Wash or neither.
  2. Before payingRead the site board. Confirm the current tariff, programme and restrictions rather than relying on an old online example.
  3. At an automatic kioskBuy the programme. A reported MFG setup issued a code for entry at the machine.
  4. At the entranceCheck the warning sign. One MFG notice excluded cars with spoilers, rear visors or reversing mirrors.
  5. At the machineFollow its prompts. The Redcar account describes code entry, pre-spray and then brushes.

Payment is also local. In our directory, 46 listings state at least one payment method, and all 46 mention card or contactless. That does not guarantee card payment at every bay. One hand-wash operator lists cash, card, contactless and the GoWash app; jet-wash equipment suppliers offer coins and contactless, but MFG does not publish a site-by-site payment list. Check the machine. Our guide to paying for a car wash covers the practical differences.

Opening hours can outlast the supermarket

Do not use the supermarket’s closing time as the wash’s closing time. At Borehamwood, the store page gives Monday to Saturday hours of 07:00–23:00 and Sunday hours of 10:00–16:00, while the petrol station is listed as open 24 hours. At Gainsborough, MFG publishes 06:00–22:00 every day for a forecourt listing both Car Wash and Jet Wash.

Eight MFG “Car Wash Centre” pages checked publish 24-hour opening from Monday to Sunday. The identical hours and service lists across those pages appear templated, so regard them as the operator’s published hours and check locally before a special trip. In our directory, only 26 of the 51 listings publish opening hours; four say they are open 24 hours on all seven days.

The distinction explains some apparently odd combinations. Morrisons Alloa lists a car wash and Sunday store hours of 08:00–19:00. CPV’s Chingford hand wash publishes 09:00–17:00 Monday to Saturday and 10:00–16:00 on Sunday, with a warning that weather can affect opening. One car park, several clocks.

What 535 written reviews flag

Our database holds 1,161 Google reviews across the 51 listings, with written text stored for 535. Keyword counts are signals, not verdicts: seven written reviews contain “broken”, eight contain “closed”, four contain “out of order”, 11 contain “card”, eight contain “scratch” and three contain “queue”. A phrase count cannot establish what happened, but it tells you which practical checks are worth making before you pay.

“Currently broken and waiting for an engineer. No estimate of when that might be.”

Google review, a Morrisons automatic car wash

The other side of the data is equally real. Some drivers regard the result and premium programme as good value.

“I always use the platinum service which currently costs £8.49 and includes wheel arches and a lovely glossy wax shampoo. Well worth it in my opinion.”

Google review, a Morrisons car wash

That £8.49 is one reviewer’s site-specific price at the time of writing, not a national tariff. Reviews are most useful when they mention the exact machine, recent availability or an observable result. A star alone is a blunt instrument.

Do

  • Check the exact site’s facilities and operator hours
  • Read the price board and vehicle restrictions before paying
  • Confirm a hand-wash package and vehicle category

Don’t

  • Assume Wash-ME is a car wash
  • Treat a historical online price as today’s tariff
  • Assume the wash closes with the supermarket

If a machine damages the car

The operator may point to an entrance disclaimer, but that does not erase consumer law. Section 49(1) of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 says a service contract includes a term requiring reasonable care and skill. Whether an operator is liable in a particular dispute depends on the facts.

A 2025 Redcar case reported by Teesside Live involved a repair estimate of about £1,400. MFG refused liability and cited a notice excluding cars with spoilers, rear visors or reversing mirrors, as well as use at the owner’s risk. The driver intended to take the claim to county court. That was MFG’s position in a disputed case, not a court ruling.

How we counted. WashFinder analysed 51 Morrisons-branded listings inside the UK bounding box using Google Maps listing and review data collected in 2026. Rating means use the 40 listings with ratings; the review-weighted mean weights each site by its review count. Phrase counts search the 535 stored review texts literally. Directory counts are not an official Morrisons or MFG register.

The verdict

There is no single Morrisons wash or national tariff. Find the exact site, identify whether it is an automatic, DIY jet wash or third-party hand wash, then check the operator’s live hours, price board, payment symbols and vehicle restrictions before you pay.
