Sainsbury's Hand Car Wash

The car wash was ok but they overcharged based on size of the car, as despite having a medium sized five seater (Tesla model Y), they charge as a large car (MPV, SUV, 7 seater). I did question it but he just said “look at the size of it”! I won’t be going again.

Beware! Has been taken over by WashBox so prices and previous reviews are no longer true. They will likely try and put your car in a more expensive category and hope you don’t notice. I have a small car - it’s a Renault 5. Almost the definition of a small runaround. It’s less than 9.7m3 which is the cut off as advertised clearly on their boards, before it’s deemed to be a medium sized car, which is fair. But no, the manager on duty insisted it was a medium sized car, even when confronted with official measurements of the car. Astonishing. Unfortunately he was one of those people that just dig their heels in, even when they are wrong. And what can you do when someone argues that black is white and white is black? It then got farcical. He tried to claim the car has 5 doors, which it does, so it’s ‘medium’. Nowhere on their t&c’s board does it mention the number of doors as being a factor, it’s all based on the size. So I walked away. It wasn’t the money. That was only a £5 difference, it was that fact that he’s tried to rip me off, and refused to change his opinion when confronted with the evidence. Would I trust them not to try this again and again. No. Go elsewhere - the guys in the maltings, st Christopher’s place or the place next to Chelmsford fabrics in harpenden are a better bet.

Very friendly. However charged me a higher rate for a small car & then it rained the next day. Go figure.

Got convinced for the top service at £55. Had to ask them to clean lots of places when I collected it. One area they said couldn’t be cleaned so I licked my thumb and scrubbed it clean 🤣

Basic hand car wash and nothing more. Had a basic clean and must have been there about 6 mins, to give you a sense of how quick they clean the vehicles. No window clean and most of the windows and car were left wet, despite it being a wash and dry service. Also, they classified my VW Polo as a medium car. Not sure what constitutes a small car then but definitely overcharged. Avoid

Best Lavdim and Petre

Took my daughters car (her first one as she’s learning to drive) to have a full valet inside and out and paid £90 which I thought was very expensive for a fiat 500. When I collected the car the seats were soaking wet. They assured me it would dry quickly. It didn’t, I had to use the hairdryer on it and put dehumidifiers in the car. It made no difference and the smell was disgusting. I took it back and they apologised and said they would clean it again for no charge. It’s been a few weeks and I’ve followed all the instructions but the car smells disgusting. It did not smell like this when I took it there to be cleaned. It smells like something is dead in the car. My daughter doesn’t want to drive it now.

Got my car washed while shopping at Sainsbury’s St Albans — so convenient! The guys were really friendly and did an amazing job. My car looked shiny and spotless by the time I was done. Definitely coming back!

Soap wasn’t properly washed off the car and they didn’t bother cleaning the door sills. They also insisted the car was classified as a medium vehicle and accordingly charged extra.

Fast but no attention to detail. Stains were left in every corner. And it was supposed to be the premium service (£60).

Was quick but effective and my car was sparkling clean after they washed it.

Having had a good wash on our large car (medium platinum wash at £50), we took our small car. They insisted on charging for a medium car rather than a small car (it was only a small Golf) and even tried to sell my husband an expensive full valet wash for £90. He stuck to the platinum wash and £50 later, they had hardly cleaned it (it must have been a very light basic 5 minute clean!). Unfortunately my husband picked it up and didn't dare argue with them, and by the time I saw how dirty it still was (a week or so later), we felt it was too late to take it back and complain.

Absolutely delighted with the service! Will definitely be back! Thank you!
